One of the most ridiculous red cards I've seen given (RvP's at Camp Nou is still no. 1). Ref fucked up big time but in fairness he was completely conned by Ayew for the second yellow because in real time it did look like Tomi had pulled him down. If the FA is so interested in protecting their referees, they should make an example out of this incident and dish out a ban for that dirty cheat.
As for the football… It wasn’t great to watch. Saka and Martinelli were way too isolated and Havertz could barely get into the game. Nketiah did OK at best, but he had to score when he tried that chip. Our wingers suffer when they play with him at 9 compared to Jesus or Trossard so he must make up for it by putting his chances away.
I didn’t understand the Havertz signing, and the signs are not great so far but let’s give him some time to gel. At least I thought he was a good outlet in the air in the final minutes of the game.
Defensively we looked airtight. Saliba is just so good, and Rice played with real authority today. Quality performance by him. Jorginho was excellent when he came on as well.
Whinge alarm. The team selection was strange again to say the least. Partey did really well but it’s such a waste to put him at RB. As someone else pointed out, he barely even inverted into midfield so is Arteta only playing him there to accommodate Rice and Havertz in the middle? And what does Trossard has to do to get a start? And the Gabriel thing is just not rational to me.
