For the lap of honour at the end of the Emirates Cup, he walked 30 yards closer to the crowd than everyone else. Applauding and thanking them all the way round.

Even today, there were a couple of moments that the cameras picked up where he was trying to get the crowd to whip a storm in search of an equaliser. And of course, his penalty. He didn't just score, he buried it and celebrated in a way that said we mean business.

He's a special character. From afar, he seems incredibly mature and intelligent.

Odegaard is to Arteta what Cesc was to Wenger. Hopefully the former won’t be a little tramp and leave us in the lurch like the Spaniard did (different times of course and we are now in a much better position so less chance of Ode doing the same)

If we maintain our position as one of the top teams in England, we should be fine. The growing financial divide between the PL and the rest of Europe means sagas that we used to get 10, 15 years ago should be less common. It's a lot harder for Barca and Real to prey on PL clubs than it used to be, the Italian league is miles off and Bayern and PSG are hamstrung by their own total dominance in their league.

lorddulaarsenal just check out his finish the other day vs Barcelona, and his penalty vs City. Technically the boy is top bins. It's how he copes with the physicality and his decision making in / approaching the final third that needs work.

Hopefully that win psychologically might make us better against City this season. We had good chances and it felt like same old story when they scored. Looked like they might grab another and finish off the game. We got fortunate but we also had good chances we missed during the game as well.

Started a bit iffy but had decent spells in that game.

It definitely will help that we won. I'm buzzing so I'm sure the players are feeling the same way. Smash Forest on Saturday and the feel good factor will be at an all time high and hopefully we can then ride that momentum like we did last season.

Clrnc Pretty amazing stat. Didn't think it was correct as he would have been at Everton in 2009 when they were in the FA Cup final and lost to Chelsea. I remember Everton being in that final because it's the last time I was in London staying with my Grandma who lived in Wembley (walking distance to the stadium) and I walked down to the stadium on the day just to soak up all the atmosphere pre-game of all the fans outside before they went in. Just checked and he was indeed injured for the second half of that season so missed the final. I assume he was there, but technically wasn't involved as not in the matchday squad.

I love it. It's a fact that I think was sorely neglected by Wenger in an attempt to prioritise technical ability for European games. Arteta (and others) are showing it doesn't have to be such a binary choice.
