if ode lost the captaincy it would go to saka and then big gabi and then declan. he's 4th in line and these people would have to agenda their way through some pretty important players to get their way. i'm sure saka would take very kindly to getting leapfrogged. he knows he'll never be captain for england for obvious reasons, but he'll expect it at HIS club if it's his turn.

and using saturday as some kind of selling point for declan when he played like shit and the guy who was actually captain created both goals is amazing to me.

Yeah we've seen Gabi get it while Decs on the pitch. They are all great leaders, people need to chill.

TBH I think Gabriel is the most influential player in the team in terms of raising other people and showing leadership. All the defence, Raya and the midfielders are better when he's with them.

Phil not sure why this is relevant. Nobody should have a guaranteed spot if they play badly, not even the captain. But that's why you have an order of captains. If Øde is benched, someone else is captain until he plays again. No need to change the order based on who's currently playing well.

I don't think being pissed off about dropping a couple of points is a fragile reaction, exactly.

The fan reaction has an extra load because we've finished second for three seasons running. Several of the players have mentioned feeling scarred by those experiences, including Rice I think. Not surprising.

Rice does seem to be a bit agitated. There's that thing going round about him having a blow-up with Stuivenberg that Arteta mentioned in passing.

The "Fucking shit" isn't fragile. The "Every fucking time" is fragile.

I don't think "Every fucking time" is true and, even if it was true, it simply isn't relevant. Just live in the present (not the past) and focus on winning the next game.
