Meatwad I agree with your general point, but - in the interests of pedantry - we've, uh, hammered the Hammers 5-2 and 6-0 last two seasons at their place.

But it's a team game and the team should still be performing at a title winning level even if the best player rotate. But my point is that if we hit the first 10 games strongly, the margin for error becomes greater.

you don't win the title doing well against the big teams and getting to put your feet up against the easy ones. you do that and you end up with 89 points and nothing to show for it.

i'm not expecting 10/10 performances. a professional performance will be enough to win most games in this league. i just have PTSD from wenger's bunch winning games you didn't expect them to and then shitting the bed when they're feeling good about themselves. if we do great in the first 10, then do great in the next 10 (edit: just looked and this period includes tottnumb, chelsea and villa twice).

free passes will be given out at the trophy parade (league or champions league or shit both).

Adams is from that era when you had the likes of himself, Keane, Vieira, Terry etc. as captains who were vocal and loud, probably thinks Rice is similar

Game has moved on now from simply those sort of figures getting captaincy and while Rice would be a worthy candidate, stripping Odegaard would have a terrible decision

And thats good and all that, and he was... But last season we won fuck all, so it didnt really matter. I know its one game, and we will see what happens in the coming weeks, but we need him to be a driving force all season, not just in the second half of the season. If we want to win something, we need all our big players firing from the get go.

That said, horrible game yesterday by Rice (and pretty much everyone else) and we still managed a clean sheet and 3 points. Lets see how it goes in the home opener v. promoted Leeds.
