Claudius I think the press was an overused tactic by West Ham. They've come off awkward from this ordeal but that may be my bias.
Decided they wanted to bait a bidding war over 4+ weeks but couldn’t bear letting the bidder prepare a huge outlay over a week or two. Now pre season has begun and they could be playing catch up in what time is left on the market.
