even after years of gaslighting, i remember that summer. he was so appalling as a striker that when we signed him it was made clear "no, no it's not to be a striker, we know he's shit there, he's our left 8 replacement. we're going to show everyone how chelsea misused an elite talent" and after being shit at that he was moved to striker and scored a few goals after his charity penalty, nothing impressive and it became a genius signing and money well spent in fees and wages.

None of the players we have are garbage, I even include Madueke in that. That we can’t get a tune out of them speaks much more to the conductor than the orchestra.

eze is playing in a different system. that's another reason why i don't like the assumptions that morgan rogers would be doing the same things for us playing as a left winger as he does for chelsea as a left 10. that 3-4-2-1 formation utilizes them differently.

gyok's positive rep was/is a product of shitty opponents: club and international.

saka's problem isn't the system, his injury robbed him of the little explosiveness he had and now he can't even beat CBs one on one.

The question was asked in the match thread about whether our attackers are inferior to Brighton and Chelsea, and a few thought they were. There’s not a chance Eze, Havertz and Saka are inferior to Brighton’s forward three. With Chelsea there’s maybe a debate to be had.

Rogers actually played left wing for Villa and performed. That's why I felt he could do a job on our left. I was always dubious about Eze's ability to perform there because he'd never been consistently played on the left wing like that. People who didn't watch Palace heard he "played on the left" but it was as one of 2 AMs, like Rogers now for Chelsea. Rogers is more versatile than Eze though. He's also faster and stronger and that makes a big difference on the wing. I've no doubt he'd have been our starting winger with basically no challenger if we signed him. Big miss.

He wasn't good but none of our attacking players were. Also agree with @Rohit that he hasn't quite looked right since he came back from the break.

Qwiss yeah agree I think Eze right now just doesn't do enough and if this continues through the season we probably should move him on as this level is just not enough.

When he falls into this self pity shit, there is no point to him. Well at his peak there isn't really much to him, but that is for another day. Send him on vacation for 10 days and hope something changes, or gift him a penalty like we did in that Bournemouth game...and pls get rid of him the first chance we get. we should have never been looking at a renewal. after his first season we should have figured out he was unsellable because of his wages, so he's the type you just let his contract expire.
