Well Partey doesn't lay on slide rule passes into the box in the closing minutes of away draws either. Jorginho is pretty much the senior player who stood up and got us the win, gotta give him credit today.

Burnwinter those passes through the list nes are the real difference. Partey has other strengths though and is better overall. I do like those passes though and it highlights what our midfields been lacking.

Dunno how many slide rule passes he plays into the box in the last minutes but he plays plenty of through balls throughout the game.

But yeah, my gripe waa mainly with the Partey can't score like that bit rather than he doesn't assist with through balls.

Qwiss People are taking me as saying Partey's shit, not what I mean at all. It's more that when a player's viewed as indispensable it's great to have scraped an important win without him with a big contribution from his deputy, who showcased a couple of things he can do that Partey doesn't. We need more of this in more positions, positive from Vieira too—that's how he can earn a start.

Not a fan of this.. think his form in general only started to pick up after Arteta switch his and Xhakas roles a year ago.. yeah the setup is a bit different now but same principles for me.. I like Partey but he is much more suited to the 6 role at the top level. His awareness and ability to play with his back to goal among other things are just not there for me.

Much prefer Trossard if we experimenting

I hear you, mate. Partey is the superior all-round midfielder, and probably the superior 6. But, as a specialist 6 in a team that has 70% of the ball, Jorginho is very good. And he showed that in second half.

nah i don't think anyone thinks you're saying that. you said something about partey scoring that kind of goal (jorginho technically didn't score that kind of goal either) and putting specific conditions on it about extra time or something. partey has scored screamers this season and he's also hit the crossbar with a screamer like jorginho. i guess he didn't hit the crossbar in stoppage time so there is that weird stipulation again.

There is a specific tactical plan from which Partey has scored this season. When we're up against an excessively low block, we work the key until space opens up for a shot from outside the box for him or someone else. Like the one he got against Spurs.

That's not even slightly the same as Jorginho pushing up to lay on a refined key pass, and ultimately make the winning strike in the last quarter hour of an end to end match we came within a bee's dick of losing.

Partey's had a couple of seasons so solid we've started to talk like we can't win without him, but he'd never be doing that, never has and never will.

Two different players. Pretty happy the Devil got into Jorginho today as we would have dropped another two points if not.

What a fucking win. One of the best experience for sure as an Arsenal fan at this stage of the season, reminds me of the win against Liverpool 4-2 in 03/04 when we were on a terrible run and needed big players to step it up.

Vieira, Jorginho, Zinny, Gabriel, Emi was HUGE for us in the 2nd half. Gabriel himself had 2 superb tackles against Bailey and Ramsdale with that wonder save too.

I thought having Martinelli to run at tired defence is great in away games. We should do that more often. The fresh legs were so important for us. During that Bailey counter, look at Vieira and Tomiyasu recovery pace compared to Odegaard and the rest who was really struggling to get back.

I thought Vieira pass for the 4th goal was not easy at all. I kept shouting shoot but he was so intelligent to wait and pass.

All in all a brilliant day, what a win. Could be the turning point. And yes our players should shoot more outside of the box.

I think only Nketiah is a real disappointment for me today

Burnwinter I'd like to get to the bottom of this. Is this a typical Jorginho goal? Can't remember seeing him do it. Partey on the other hand was known for his long range shots before he came here, and it's not like every one of them came through a specific tactical routine that we've continued here.
