I watched Real Madrid (pretty much their bench players) vs Real Sociedad, and kept an eye on Zubimendi.
No doubt he’s quality on ball and nicely balanced between possession and forward looking passes. You can tell he’s clued in to the whole field and how the team should be playing. Had a real nice moment where he suggested a forward pass to a player, who didn’t make the pass, then passed it to Zubimendi who then hit the (now harder) pass super cleanly.
Possession and stamina aside (as he’s always showing for the ball) I did find him lacking physicality and presence. None of Madrid’s players were scared of attacking him and he struggled with the pace of some counter attacks. He may not offer much less than Partey on ball, but he’ll never be the shield Partey is when at his best.
