Ideally you’d want Saka to withdraw but that would be really shit for him and I think Tuchel knows he is crucial to England if they want to win this. Hopefully they can just ease him in and only use him in later rounds

Can we just shut him down. I'm sure he is desperate to succeed with England, but they do not need him for the first round. Even 10 days rest would do this guy a world of good.

What’s going on with him? Can he get back to 15 goals and assists? Has his injury fully healed?

All the chat about another attacker and Madueke etc are just manifestations of our underlying concern that Saka will not be at his best for the next few months.

I know what you mean, but he did get 11 goals last season despite periods out with injury.

Yeah this season is a big one in terms of what we get from Saka. I was hoping he would be giving us 20 or so league goals with hot he had been developing but with the injuries he's really struggled to make that progress. After those two years if he struggles further this year then I am not sure he's going to continue that trajectory for him in terms of being a talisman for the team. Still clearly a good player because he's very intelligent with his play but was hoping he could join that bracket of top level forwards ala Salah etc.

To me he's still our most important player and if we can get him fit we'll be flying. If he struggles with injury we will either struggle or need Max to step up.

I used to think Saka was our most important player but since last season it's clearly been Rice imo. Saliba was out, Gabriel was out, Saka and Martin were missing more minutes than they played, and we still won the league with Declan heroballing week in and week out. If he'd done that at Bayern or Barca he'd be odds on for the ballon d'Or right now.

If we ever want to win a CL final we definitely need Saka fit though. He's by far the best player we have, and unless Vinicius has a change of heart I don't see who we'd sign who could change that.

Klaus Our midfield is stacked. Our attack is not. We can survive a serious Rice injury more than a Saka one IMO.

Qwiss No way. One of my biggest problems with our transfer strategy has been the lack of a proper backup for Rice. Zubi is perhaps the closest to that amongst our existing MF and he is of course nowhere near as good defensively honestly as Rice is. For those who will say Bruno G, he's not a DM to me since he doesn't cover space the way Rice does and is too jumpy so will expose the defense way too much playing at #6.
