If we haven't got a major trophy in the next 2 seasons I bet he's looking around/walking.
flobaba folks were saying this last time he signed.
Yeah, but thats when we were only in phase 3 of the 'plan'. We should be entering phase 5 now.
Looks a lot leaner. Hopefully his first free summer in what feels like ages will do him the world of good
Alcaraz making most of his time in London.
The real winner of this summer’s transfer activity. He’s going to have so much more space to work with that I predict he’ll reach his highest level yet
Mirth Let's see what Atlas can do without the sky to hold up …
Need to get him and Saliba on new contracts asap, 2 years left to run with both now!
Hopefully he'll benefit, he's been outstanding for us but we really need him step it up to another level to take that final step as a team.
awooga83 to win it all we need one of our attackers to become a top 10 player in the world. Saka's the closest.
Mirth I would say he is already easily in the top 10 in his position in the world. Unless you mean top 10 'overall forwards' in the world.
Yeah he's fine. Super efficient. It's the others that need to step up and give him a bit of room to continue doing his thing. Hopefully Gyokeres and Eze are able to provide a serious alternative threat down the left, bring balance to the force.
It's not that he's a problem but we need more from him in terms of contributions, his goals need to go up and hopefully assists as well. That Salah type of effect where he just alway popped up with a goal. That's a level I hope Saka can reach and it would be a boost to are chances of lending the big trophies.
awooga83 yep, if you look at the winning teams the best players have an outsized impact.
Mirth we already get outsized impact from Saka (and Odegaard). If we would like to see more, then we have to acknowledge that the best players are also optimized to get the best out of them, allowed extra tolerance, allowed some respite to conserve energy for big moments. Let's see Arteta give Saka those conditions if we are to demand that bit of extra from him.
flobaba neither Saka nor Odegaard gives us an outsized impact in terms of goals and assists. And I agree part of the reason is because the team wasn’t set up to benefit them but, now that it is, they need to be posting big numbers.
How fucked is his hamstring 😢
It looked like he had a feeling in his left one today, so hopefully not a recurrence. Seemed like a mild one too, hopefully. Bet he'll be back after the international break.
Klaus
He seemed to come off at the first pull which is sensible.
On timbers debut you could see he had a pull me and a wife look at each other and say "needs to come off. He came back on popped his ACL and missed the season.
Fingers crossed he just felt something and decided to be cautious. He walked off the pitch fine, was barely hobbling and didn't seem to be in too much pain. Discomfort for sure, but not pain.
Let's hope we get lucky and it's nothing serious.
