There's a pretty good chance Partey stays. The player isn't pushing for a move and neither are we unless we get a very good bid.

My hope is that Partey stays, and our midfield becomes more dynamic in terms of in game adjustments.

I think it was Ricky who had a post highlighting all of the set ups between our midfielders and inverted fullbacks.

To me, Rice will be at his best if he can start slightly deeper than Xhaka’s average position. And if that means he’s alongside or slightly ahead of Partey, all the better as that will be the most equally tenacious and talented midfield around. Rodri is special no doubt, but I’d take Rice/Partey over Rodri/Stones.

Very excited for the signing.

Last season our eleven was a good looking geezer. Adding Rice makes us a well hung good looking geezer.

Partey - Rice - Odegaard is a midfield upgrade. Thats where we are right now, just have to wait and see what happens. I imagine from here if we sell important players they will be replaced like for like.

No width in that team at all. Martinelli and Saka will be all alone and double teamed with no hesitation.

flobaba thats not a starting midfield unless we go 2 up top or 3 at the back though. Neither sounds great.

Big Willie we rarely rely on width from our fullbacks though. On the left Zinchenko usually takes the inside path. And on the right basic Ben didn't do anything super special. If we bring in Timber we will have one more player who gets between lines and drives into half spaces in addition to Rice and Havertz. This is what it feels like the next stage of our evolution as a team is geared towards.

Big Willie — if Martinelli/Saka are double teamed it just means there’s more room and space for the central players. I also think the quality that Rice and Partey have means they’ll challenge teams to even get a double team set up as they move the ball upfield so quickly (via Rice dribbling or Partey passing).

I don't think we should necessarily force Partey, Rice, Havertz and Ødegaard into the midfield at the same time.

However, I definitely think the quality of losing Partey would drop a lot nonetheless simply from the fact that the chance of not being able to field three of them at the same time would increase.

Fielding 3 out of the 4 we have should be possible to do pretty much all the time. 3 out of 3, not so much.

I think our backups are Jorginho, Lavia, Vieira and The Smith. And Elneny in a pinch.

The Smoth looked enormous in his England games. Will be interesting to see where he ends up playing.

Romano very poor in this saga too. Always slower than the rest and inaccurate. Jacobs, Steinberg and Mokkbel had better sources and rinsed him .
