God damn I love this Arsenal side. Just got done watching the replay and managed not to spoil myself.
We absolutely footballed them in the first half, and even if we were a bit lucky with Lloris's mistake, by the time Ødegaard slotted our second, we had been steamrolling them for half an hour. Partey's poster would've been one of the goals of the season, and his career, as well—when that came out, I did wonder if we'd somehow regret it, but no.
At times, we looked a fraction short on presence up front with Nketiah today, which is not to say he had the worst performance, but his touch was loose on at least one occasion the ball came to him in a good position. His positioning and movement, just behind the line Saka and Martinelli take up, are excellent, however.
In the second half, we came through whatever intensity they could muster in the first quarter hour or so—with that inbred Harkonnen factory slave Kulusevski making himself known versus Zinchenko—relatively easily. By the time Martinelli was starting to goad Romero with futsal taunts—and damn, Gabi does a windup with some class, compared to Antony—Spurs were psychologically beaten and humiliated.
In the 88th minute, Spurs won a free kick on the edge of our area and Tyler said "big moment this" in the most unconvincing manner imaginable. Not a single Tottenham player seemed to think they had a goal in them. Perisic brought that home not even bothering to chase a promising ball in the closing minutes.
Wonderful, secure and commanding performance from Ramsdale who made 2.5 xG faced feel like zero, and the sight of Arteta wearing a huge, shit-eating grin as he pulled our keeper, then Xhaka off the mangy Spurs bench and fans before our boys went off to celebrate in front of the away area … damn, be still my beating heart. 💓
Fucking get in
