Also, if they get CL footie on top of this cup win they would have had a better season than us assuming we dont win CL.

Sicario2 Newcastle will because they are a club that hadn't wont anything for 70 years. Its not comparable to us winning it. If we won it and finished 5th I certainly wouldn't be looking back fondly on this season.

A trophy's a trophy, but nobody really deeply gives a shit about the League Cup.

Coming short in the League and CL but winning the League Cup wouldn't have made our season a success. It would have still been a disappointment. A disappointment sweetened by a minor trophy, but nevertheless a disappointment.

If you're not in contention for anything else, then of course it has a slightly bigger meaning.

I still don't think it's viewed as "Arsenal haven't won a trophy in five years".

It's "Arsenal haven't won't the league in 21 years and have never won a proper European trophy".

We've had our share of FA Cups this century, all that truly matter to me are the Big Two right now. We need to fucking get those in.

Of course that is not to say we haven't been truly pathetic in the domestic cups for half a decade, which also needs serious looking at.

Nah, the narrative would just change to "Arsenal are x amount of years since a real trophy". You can spin it any way you want. If you're looking for a reason to hate, you'll find a way.

Winning the League Cup isn't going to make us perform better in the League or CL or attract better players to improve our level. The management and ownership need to make sure we improve our team so we are not playing Tierney and Merino as attackers.
