Pepe LeFrits Guardian, BBC, Sky Sports and even the Telegraph had relegated the game to second billing behind the England Wales women's euros last 16 match
This... And even though it was being played here (in the US), the whole tournament got very little air time compared to the woman's Euros. They would show one (MAYBE two) of the games each day, as the others were on streaming services no one here had heard of.
Not to mention, the attendance to the games was pitiful, even the semi finals. My neighbor's son and his family went to the Chelsea semi final match (4 people in total) and he doesn't even watch soccer (football) just because the tickets were available and cheap enough for him to take the family, and he definitely doesnt have a lot of money.
The heat, the extreme weather conditions causing delays, the terrible refereeing, the no-name teams, all led to a pretty shit tournament. They tried to hype it, and like Pepe said, no one cared. They tried to hype all the non European teams, but in the end, it was two European teams in the final.
Not to mention, Chelsea won. Mehhhhhhhh. Thought PSG would dominate them, but they forgot to show up. For the most part, it seemed like most of the players didnt care about it, and really would've rather had the summer off, at least the European teams.
