Yeah, silly me. I would have had penalties in mind when choosing Saka, but of course we don't really get very many.

It's great how we shared the goals about but really could do with a forward hitting 25 for us as well and more in the clinical sense where the odd goal or limited chance might be all there is.

awooga83 I don't think we could add a 25 goal striker without losing goals elsewhere. If you combine Jesus and Eddies output this season I do think they fall a bit under where our main striker should be though with just 14 league goals between them, and both scoring at a similar rate. This is fairly typical for Jesus who tends to make up for it in other ways, or at least did before his injury. Eddie had bad season by his own standards in terms of goals per game and under shooting his xg.

I think we could upgrade the CF position relatively easily with the right level of investment but I am not so sure that investment is best used for CF this summer. I'd be more inclined to go with spending big on midfield and plugging gaps in the squad depth this summer and hoping for a better season goals wise from our strikers next season. I think Eddie in particular can score more.

Summer 24 is when I'd throw the bag at a new striker.

I'm not so sure. There seems to be a dearth of talent in the CF position. A lot of the pretenders like Nunez, Jovic, Scammaca, Vlahovic end up not really living up to expectations, at least so far.

The only one out there who strikes me as an obvious upgrade is Osimhen. Maybe if he stays in Napoli for another season we can go big for him next year but when he does leave I'd imagine there would be a lot of competition.

In the meantime, Jesus isn't a barrier to anything. He's better than Firminho and he won it all. Of course that puts a big burden on Saka and Martinelli.

Agreed - this is not the summer to go looking for a striker with so many clubs doing the same.

goon Osimhen is the one I'd love to get but he'd cost big money and thats sort of my point. I like Jesus but he has obvious limitations as your default number one striker. Ideally you'd have a worldy ahead of him instead of Eddie behind him but I'm comfortable enough giving them both another season before we make that move.
