Just thinking back to this game, I wonder if I was a bit harsh on Eddie not pressing well because it's clear we decided to let them have the ball at the back for large periods.
Seems like we were playing a mid block press. Basically ensuring that Brighton can't beat our press and break through on the transition, something they're very good at. The few times we did push up a bit higher you saw them do exactly that. Clever because you basically take away their advantage and then make it more about individual quality. We can create chances and score goals without dominating the ball, can you? It's a dangerous game though, because it also has the impact of taking away the strong aspects of our game. You could see we didn't quite know how or when to press and we were not able to keep the ball for long periods we allowed the pattern of the game to shift.
