While I think Guimaraes is very talented and would raise us up a level, especially in the PL, part of me hopes that it's a smokescreen and we are after someone with a little more technical ability. If we are willing to pay 80m plus for Bruno, I'd be just as willing to pay close to that amount for Douglas Luiz, who I think offers a lot more than Bruno going forward, while still being able to be versatile and robust enough to play more defensive. I think it comes down to where you want Rice to play the majority of his minutes next year. I want him to specialize as the best 6 in the world next year and as a result, want someone more attacking than Bruno as our left 8. If we are looking for a Partey replacement, I'd be much more interested in Youssouf Fofana from Monaco who has only impressed me every time I've watched him and is a ball winning and duel monster while still having some good technical skills.
