You are right they took a massive risk and probably knew they couldn't afford him so would only be creating value for Man Utd, it is a smart deal for them but never heard of this happening before.

HomeSteak something I wonder with these Saudi clubs is... Wouldn't the state-owned clubs be hesitant to buy at high prices from top PL clubs? Newcastle want to break in there so they probably shouldn't help City and Arsenal, but maybe the Saudi league project is a higher priority than Newcastle.

That's exactly what it is. It's no surprise that Newcastle were almost unable to buy players as soon as the first windows of Saudi league importing players fron Europe began. Long may it continue. Last thing I want to see is yet another country owned club that's able to outspend everyone, qnd actually doing so.

Yeah, we've already seen this for sure. Last summer PIF were blatantly buying up players who would've been handy in the Premier League and shipping them off to Saudi.

I'd be worried if I were a Newcastle fan. Sure, it's no disadvantage to have extremely wealthy owners, but there's also the possibility of situations where your club's roster's being used to manage FFP and PSR concerns for other parties. It is not a City Group style "football utopia" project they've got going. Howe's public rhetoric has been downbeat since last summer as well.
