His agents been trying to flog him since January and he started with us, then down to United who also didn't seem interested at that price and so he's ended up at relegation battlers Spurs. Just shows no one else was all that bothered with him.

Qwiss Spurs are unusual in that they usually run an operating profit. They have the lowest squad cost to income ratio in the league (I think by a pretty significant margin). So unlike a situation like Chelsea's, where there's plenty of cash available but a significant accounting issue - made much worse by missing out on European football - Spurs can just stop pulling profit out and spend the money.
If a player we'd supposedly want to sign is going to Spurs, it's because half a dozen other elite clubs also didn't give a shit about his availability.
