Claudius don’t agree with all the names. But good for thought. That team has been spending obscene amounts of money. And they aren’t scrutinised because as one poster here said “they can afford it”
Some clear flops in there but we need to clarify a couple things.
- Some were important players who were either starters or finishers in successful teams such as Joško Gvardiol, Cancelo, Nunes and Jack Grealish.
Its why we shouldn't be callin the likes of Madueke, Gyok, Zubi and White flops because while they all came with big fees (and for one reason or another people have their issues with each signing) but they have all contributed towards our title win this season, even if only in a couple of games when we needed them like Benny, a significant amount of games like Madueke or for the majority of games like Gyok or Zubi, without which we'd have not been able to survive the injuries to Timber, Saka and Havertz.
Others are newish players signed in the last 18 months such as Marmoush, Ait Nuri, Trafford, and Reijnders and may do well under a different manager. They've all shown ability at their previous clubs (Trafford aside probably cuz I dunno where he came from amd he's a keeper).
Then you have squad players like Bravo who were backup keeper for years and cost 17m so not really a flop, no.
They do have flop signings however. The likes of Kalvin Phillips, Nolito, Danilo, Mendy, Reis and Savinho (who I thought might be decent but hasn't lived up to initial hype) all failed to deliver. These signing they should get criticism for.
Not to mention how they have the ability to buy all these players in the first place with all their corrupt practices and flaunting of the rules. 100% they deserve flack and hopefully face justice when their 115 charges are upheld.
