I do wonder if Bayern missing out on Gordon opens the door for them to go after Martinelli. He's quite similar in terms of profile. I have a friend who supports Bayern who claims they have been interested in Martinelli but liked Gordon more.

I'm very skeptical of modern day football fans. There's too much football, there's too much exposure and fans follow every game and expect to be entertained and players to show consistently all season and the knives come out if there isn't anything tangible to show for it.

Go check out Bluemoon and what they were saying about Haaland between Jan-April. They were turning on him en masse. Football fans opinions are gutter and bottom of the barrel.

Klaus if he'd come into a team where he was wanted he might have made a big splash but Unai wasn't bothered with him so it was always an uphill battle for him and then Arteta wasn't in a position as a rookie manager to build him back up either. I think a prime Wenger could have fixed a few from that era.

JazzG well thats not really true. Saka was still playing on the left and spent a long time at left back watching Willian be an absolute sack of shit on the wing while Pepe was benched. That was a horrendous transfer.

Dom they've known for a long time he'd be leaving them. You'll see them say similar about Tonali too. A lot of cope involved.

daredevil I certainly wanted him and it sounded like we were interested too but that interest seems to have faded a bit recently. I don’t think it was due to his form/injuries as I’m hopeful it’s because we have had our head turned by a player we think is better, Barcola. It could also be some unknown or maybe Arteta truly believes Rogers is a LW for us. I do trust those in power but I know many on this forum don’t when it comes to attackers and I get that.

This but with the grass-is-always-greener aspect dialled up to the max.

There's such an insane drift of parasocial Arsenal content that I probably know even less about other clubs' players than I used to, but I can tell you what the bride wore to Saka's wedding and so on ... well, actually I can't recall but I can remember casting an eye over the photo spread and questioning what the fuck I was doing.

Every summer now we're linked with several players fans wishlist to replace our much-maligned incumbents, and every summer they go to other English clubs and have an absolute nightmare.

Sure, if the fans you're referring to support Chelsea, Liverpool, City, Spurs, Barcelona or Real Madrid, i.e. the real pavement crud of the football world.

It's been my experience that [most] fanbases of midtable or lower teams tend to be fairly honest about their players. With Gordon, he's looked exactly as the Newcastle fans have described him: a bit thick, selfish and goal shy.

I thought he was quite highly rated - remember Klaus raving about him at some point. 37M is a really low fee - maybe he has been running down his contract and is receiving a large signing on bonus from Y***ted.

He is really good but inconsistent. I watched a fair bit of Atalanta and is probably one of their best players. Sort of all-rounder. But don't know how he'll cope with PL and the number of games

saka is married? i don't keep up with that non-football as much. i know some things, but not most things.

i'll keep challenging the people who want to replace martinelli with someone who is martinelli but costs more and because we've trashed our own player so bad a sporting director can't fix his face to say to his supporters that he's signing this great arsenal player for big money.

And Lewy, Rashford and Fati (who got a huge deal before his injuries) leaving have Barca saving upwards of 700-800k already
