RocktheCasbah Is there a tendency to forget that he is still only 22? The impact he had in the first team 2 years back is actually rather remarkable and, had it not been for the inexorable rise of Bukayo Saka, perhaps more would be made of how good Smith Rowe actually is, how big his impact and was and how much he could still grow.
Perhaps i'm taking too much stock in his disappointing end to last season, where, he was quite clearly unfit (as we'd said at the time). My concern for him is that this team leaves him behind if he does not recapture his form quickly, and he falls out of Arteta's circle of trust.
Like I say, I hope I am wrong, but as a club, we also need to maximise our assets and sell when the time is right. See Ainsley Maitland Niles as an example, who I said similar about at the time Wolves came knocking with £25m.
