Last game before the break. Win this and we guarantee that we are top of the table for 5 weeks. Wolves looking for that new manager bounce, but are 19th with 10 points and only one win in their last 5.

I would go for the usual starting line-up. Hopefully, the boys can get 3 or 4 before they go.

Looking at the weekend more broadly, of interest are

Newcastle - Chelsea: really hope Chelsea win here. Newcastle, as I have been saying for weeks, are a top 3 team. And now they can go buy more players and have have 3 World Cup participants.
Spurs - Leeds: we can hope
Brentford - City: lost cause really
Fulham - United: Mitrovc still injured, so expect United to take this.
Liverpool - Southampton: Pool are the most unpredictable big team, so this is one to watch

No new manager bounce hopefully as the guy is not officially starting till next week.

Having said that, players could be trying to impress him.

Either way it would be great to end the first part of our season on a high and be top on Xmas day!

As much as I think we need Newcastle to drop points sooner than later (we can make sure to do that on Jan 3rd) it is still great to see Chelsea under pressure. Potter has lost 3/4 in all competitions now and it will be good for them to go into the WC with some uncertainty and growing pressure.

City, Spurs, Liverpool should pick up all 3 points and hopefully Fulham give Utd a game. The former didn’t play mid-week so should be a lot fresher.

The players should be well rested but we need to be wary as when a new manager comes players will be looking to make an impression for the new manager.

Massive test as would be such a confidence boost to go into the break being top of the league.

Yep, we are away so it will be a really big test. Wolves always give us a lot of trouble. If Adama plays then we may struggle, hopefully Tomiyasu is fit to play LB here.

If we can win, then what a boost for us that would be, and also in helping land potential targets in January.

I reckon Fulham will take points from United, and hopefully Newcastle and Chelsea draw. Do not want either of them getting max points from that game. Potentially we could be on 37 points, with Newcastle on 28 and we would have a game in hand over them, and Chelsea would be on 22 points.

That would be massive for our top 4 chances

Boy, world cups sometimes accelerate the stocks of some players more than the other 4 years. Interesting times for our budding superstars.

It indeed does.

I remember particularly in the 2002 WC some Senegalese players that had good 4/5 games like El Hadji Diouf almost 5 x their actual value. Ended up being flops predictably.

I think the same with the Uruguayan striker Utd signed too, Forlan.

I would love it if we could extend Saka, Martinelli and Saliba prior to the WC. Imagine if Saliba wins the WC with France or goes very deep in the tournament and is one of their star performers, the negotiation power will be all on his and his agents side and then some.

Liverpool tried so hard to copy us back then. Houllier, Diao, Diouf, Sinama Pongolle, Le Tallec, Cisse...

Forlan indeed was quality. Used to make a lot of fun at him while at United to my mates but could see the dude was super unlucky. He hit the post so many times. Remember that semi against Leverkusen where he was unlucky with some amazing shots. Both footed a fuck as well.
