Claudius one thing I would argue is that Partey is as good as people say he is. He is a brilliant midfield general. Jorginho is statistically the more penetrative passer, but Partey combines it with fleetfootedness that speeds up attack
I would say he isn't as good as many OMITT posters think. For instance, there are many here who think that if we swap out Havertz, move Rice to 8 and drop Partey in at 6, we'll turn losses into wins. Far from true in my opinion.
I don't think he would add anything substantial to our attack with his passing, which is a view commonly espoused around here. For one thing, Rice has developed that side of his game hugely. For another, it's not a major problem with our attack, which is foundering based on a lack of execution in the opposition penalty area more than anything.
Partey's foot speed also isn't his great trait, although as we've seen from a few recovery runs, he's very quick once he gets going … in my opinion, his best quality is his capacity to absorb pressure when he's over the ball and how it helps us beating the press by freeing up his teammates a little.
He's an excellent player but his eventual return's not gonna cure what ails us, and given every other aspect of his situation as we've discussed countless times, it's past time to quit fantasising and move him on.
