For his advocates the fact he hadn't been charged, and Arsenal was still playing him, implied there wasn't much in the allegations.

Now it looks more like no other club would take him, so Arsenal settled for playing him, because there was a lot in the allegations.

Even so you wouldn't expect a conviction.

Defended the guy because he should be treated as innocent until proven guilty, technically speaking he still isn't guilty but I won't deny this doesn't leave a very bitter taste in my mouth. Legally we could not suspend him and I'd like to think the club did some kind of work on this and were confident he wasn't guilty.

And the club tried hard to extend his contract, fucking hell thank god we couldn't work something out. A lot of questions the club need to answer now.

I am assuming this does not include the woman who initially alleged assault in Spain, My memory is the Met couldn't take that forward as the legislation allowing them to act on allegations of crimes abroad wasn't in place at the time the alleged assault took place. So potentially four women.

Why? Criminal Court's are bound to presume innocence until guilt is proven beyond reasonable doubt. You, and even Civil courts, do not need to hold that standard. You're entirely free to make your own judgement. You made your bed.

You can't know that. The act/acts either happened or they didn't. A trial might find one way or the other, but even if it finds for Partey, the crime may still have taken place and the evidential threshold may just have been too high for the jury to convict. There are many situations that could happen between now and a conviction/sentencing that might see him walk away free, even if the evidence presented is enough to convince every man, woman and dog on the street.

Oh I've no problem with my stance and would do the same again. I'm more angry with the club. It is is the job of the courts to find him guilty not based on a screenshots and text messages going around. I've said before I had a friend was smeared by a false accusation.

You don't know that either, that is the whole point of why the courts and jury with all evidence need to make a decision. I have never said he didn't do the crime, I have said if he did they should throw the book at him. But I was not going to assume he was guilty.

It does however bring the judgement of this club into question. I don't know how it works but I would have thought they had a top barrister look through this with a fine comb and if there was a hint that he committed an offence he should not have played for this club again. Buy his contract out for all I care. What happened today is a stain on the club and some heads need to roll. We couldn't suspend him and if we had dropped him out of the squad there was talk we could get into all sorts of legal troubles ourselves but to offer him a new contract? I'm hoping the club has been badly advised here otherwise that is an absolute disgrace to be offering him a contract. I didn't feel comfortable at all when we were, I wanted to draw a line under this and move on.

Sigurdsson was suspended by the FA as his case involved a minor, that is why Everton suspended him.

This covers some of the points you raise. If the club had any suspicion they should have bought his contract out or sanctioned a cut price sale and cut all ties. As that tweet says there were legal implications depending on what actions we took because he was under investigation and not charged.

I don't think the club have handled this well and deserve every bit of shit that gets thrown at them for that. Surely the club had access to all this information and surely they would have checked through it all, it might have hurt them financially to cut ties but the reputational damage would be far greater. The fact we were looking to renew is unbelievable, surely the club were advised/convinced that the charges would be dropped?

If Partey is guilty, then he should be thrown in jail for as long as possible. The fact he is charged indicates there is a high probability he is guilty, but I am not going to presume he is guilty. I feel for the girls involved in this, why the hell has it taken this long to charge him.
