Decent run-out for the fringe players. If I knew more about periodisation, maybe I'd be more enthusiastic about the subs we made otherwise a bit disappointed we didn't give more of the squaddies a few minutes.

Watched the highlights of this … which was 90% clips of our players running at a static Bodø defence. Looked like we should have had five or six, wouldn't mind seeing a little more composure over the ball from the likes of Vieira and Nketiah. I know this team has claimed a couple of wins over much bigger clubs, but they are leagues below us.

Holding's hair should have gotten man of the match.

Turner was solid today I thought. His distribution is still a weakness but can be fully trusted as a number 2

Dunno if I am missing anything or being overly condescending, but the whole Europa group stage looks like a bunch of training or preseason matches in terms of intensity. I think any premise we're gonna be challenged by fixture congestion as far as these ties are concerned might be a bit overstated.

PSV are playing well, they should give us a good game. Also the return feature vs Bodo on the artificial pitch will be a nightmare.

Tbf half the PL games have looked like that too, we're in good form and our opposition hasn't been great. Bodo look nothing like the team they were last season and Zürich are a bit shit. PSV will be a much better test, suspect we'll be starting a full strength team two weeks from now.

We're making a lot of the PL games look easy … but not as easy as Bodø looked to be (admittedly I only watched the extended highlights).

I don't want to overstate our league form, but if we were to beat Liverpool on the weekend I think we'd have to start agreeing it's been pretty good, barring away matches to date against the top six. Beating Spurs relatively comfortably was one thing, but Brentford prior to that didn't even get a sniff.

I am perfectly happy the Europa is looking straightforward, means we're likely to benefit from those fixtures in terms of sharpness and rotation for the most part.

There's no overstating it this is by far the best we've looked in years, definitely since Arteta took over. We've played 10 games this season and won 9 of them, convincingly too. Even the loss at the toilet wasn't because we were dominated but shit luck/bad juj.

If we get battered by Pool it'll be a massive dampener but it looks very unlikely at the moment. Full credit to the team and the manager for how we're looking, even if the opposition wasn't the greatest we used to drop loads of points against teams like the ones we've played this season.

I'd start to feel a bit confused if we swatted Liverpool à la Spurs. I personally don't rate our chances of getting ahead of City, but a season where we coast into the top four without contending for the title might even be anticlimactic.

Probably a sign it won't happen. We are very vulnerable to injuries to a few of our guys.

Mentality will be the thing against Liverpool, and focus.

We actually competed pretty well with them at Anfield for 35 minutes and then it all collapsed in the twenty minutes either side of half time. And I think there's an argument to suggest that we were the better team at the Emirates, until they scored. But of course once they had, we carried all the threat of a bankrobber with no bullets in his gun.

It's different this year, the players just need to show it.

The way Mikel is using the subs suggests he’s keeping the players warm more than anything. So this is their practice. He’s doing it each Europa game and doesn’t need to use the players for tactical reasons.

Liverpool had three 90 point seasons in four years and have only one title to show for it. Oil money ain’t nothing to fuck with. I would happily take 2nd and have Arteta call it a trophy.

I wasn't criticising his performance, I think he played pretty well, but it always looks to me like the role is minimising his strengths and maximising his weaknesses. He's not comfortable under pressure or with his back to goal which is a big issue when you need be the guy constantly receiving the ball from the CBs. On the other hand he's got good passing range and I think probably he'd be very effective at carrying the ball and creating chances, but he rarely gets to do that when he has to shield the defence.

I want to see him getting minutes in Xhaka's role

And also this Liverpool team is as poor as it gets for years. Different from the year when the suffered injuries to defence, their players are simply ageing and not firing on all cylinders.

That said a draw will be a good result
