Because the 8 role has been given more responsibility to be much more involved in the attack now as the fullbacks are playing more like CMs... and out of the front 5 he is clearly the person who should be upgraded upon.
I like Xhaka, he is much better in this new position.. Has good qualities like his passing and that he never hides.... But his role is in a REALLY crucial position in this team now.. If we are going to continue playing this way, the 2 AM should be the smartest people on the pitch and super switched on, along with having an elite level of technique and passing, someone who can carry the ball well also as thatisn't really one of Ode's stand out features.. For me he is not quite there..
Seeing Vieira cameo the other day, and comparing him to Xhaka, it just really stood out to me the difference in the speed of thought and action between the two.. Xhaka plays at one speed, consistently... He is not going to throw the opposition off balance with his movement or guile. He will is a dependable cog in the wheel. Good but never great... Compare that with the other 4 and I think the difference is pretty obvious..
I don't know if Vieira is full ready, personally am willing to give him a go as I really liked what I have seen so far. He is really tenacious along with his other obvious qualities. Sees that game at a much quicker pace.. That's the type of player I would like to see there.. Xhaka will still be useful and would probably still play him in the big games initially for his calmness.
This is what happens when you have a good team and squad, the players you are looking to upgrade are going to be decent players and not shitsters as the overall level is higher... I don't want him sold but more of a squad role.
Also if people what to replace someone, it doesn't mean they hate them... if Arteta doesn't play Pepe, doesn't mean he hates him also... Not sure why everything has to be so binary...
