Still a bit too gritty and grindy in it's execution, but the base structure is clearly there, and it's clearly potentially very effective.

Highlights for me:

Gabriel - still looking a bit sloppy, hoping it's just early season form.

Tierney - below his best but slowly improving.

Lokonga - despite my over-exuberance, I maintain his distribution has been superior to what we've seen from Partey this season. Much less passive than he has been previously.

Xhaka - continues to surprise.

Saka - looking better.

Jesus - love.

Overall, the intensity is great to see. What's more pleasing for me is that this is whilst missing key players from the first XI; we'd fall apart with 1-2 absences last season.

Need more goals - if we don't get all three points, I'll be fuming.

This reminds me of the game against Villa 15-20 years ago when we slaughtered them. Ashley Cole scored. Let's hope we get a few more goals soon

Love seeing this. The players are really enjoying themselves out there. Nice to see, after the previous 10 years or so... :boris:

Only downside is that it's just a one goal lead. We need one or two more to be able to coast the last 10-15 minutes.

Really don't agree that Lokonga is slowing the game down. Feel like we're watching a different game.

Sambi's passing is great, superb vision, better than Partey in that area, it's his main strength. He just has that languid style about him.. I'm generally ok with it, my main concern is he is a bit slow running back to goal.

Really don't agree that Lokonga is slowing the game down. Feel like we're watching a different game.

He's playing decently but I agree, the reason I wasn't as impressed as you was because it felt like he was making the simple pass most of the time to the side or backwards, he had a few nice long balls that spread the play but he's kept it safe otherwise.

How so? Guys made 28 of 29 passes attempted.

Lokonga for those interested 32 of 34. Considering one of those bad ones was an attempted through ball thats great too.

Lokonga has a nice passing range and technique.
