Wenger was elite but he had a poor record in Europe (relative to the quality of his teams) too.
I think all of England was suffering in Europe in Wenger’s heyday. And then he fell off when English teams starting doing better. Even Sir Alex had a bad record early on. He completely fluked 99 (fucking guy) and did nothing for a decade either side of it.
No one who's managing today bar Ancelotti and Zidane can be considered elite then, Sicario mentioned Wenger but Ferguson also in 20+ tries only won it twice, Guardiola twice in 10+ attempts, Klopp just once etc. Tuchel Flick Lucho etc all didn't compete often enough in it to be considered
