Be interesting to see how teams adapt to it. Will it be possible to target Zinchenko for example, given what he's doing?
Arteta on Zinchenko: “He gives us the flexibility to attack in different ways depending on what the opponent wants to do. It creates a space that we can use. It's good to have him on the team," Arteta said.
I saw Arteta speaking about Zinchenko in his post-Bournemouth press conference, and it made me think about this system we're playing, especially the fullbacks, and how it can be tweaked in so many different ways to change the way we play quite dramatically. Zinchenko's position especially dicates the areas in which we have possession, the areas and sides we choose to focus on combinations and switches for isolations. The "inverted" fullbacks are the key, what we do with those two positions can change the way the whole team functions, and players like Xhaka and Ødegaard do very different things in different areas of the pitch.
It really is very, very clever and, in theory, makes us so adaptable and flexible that we'll be difficult to stop.
