I think the issue is something else with Patino. Maybe he hasn't had his covid jabs or something, or maybe he got sick before they travelled. The US rules are still quite strict compared with Europe.

I liked the look and shape of the team tonight. It may finally all be coming together. Shore up that midfield with a top quality Xhaka replacement, maybe bring in a wizard winger, and we are set to get back into the champions league.

One by one this place is going to come around to what i’ve been saying for two years. It’s already started. What’d i call myself last year? A trailblazer? Bosscielny the Retarded Trailblazer. Has a ring to it, doesn’t it?

The longer you dig your heels in the more fun i’ll get to have. You can have your Guendouzi’s, Buendia’s, Soumare’s and your Raf Rangsvicker’s. I’ll have Mikel’s tricky reds.

You did get one thing right, though (finally). I am a dickhead. Actually called myself one a couple of hours before you did.

Three years and hundreds of millions into the "project" and you expect "attractive football more consistently", "more enjoyment", "another step forward". And you actually believe people are coming around to your views on the manager.

that's what gets me. the ever moving goalposts. by the end of this window we'll be 300m+ into this project, but it still gets talked about as green shoots barely beginning to sprout.

It’s been slow progress for sure but it’s progress nonetheless. When you have a really young squad, you don’t need overnight change. Also people talking about money need to have a look at the likes of United, Chelsea or even us in the past to see that money doesn’t guarantee anything.

I think all the progress talk is based on hope as much as reality. Finishing 5th under Wenger and Emery wasn't good enough and I don't see why finishing there under Arteta is treated as progress. We aren't Everton or West Ham, the top 4 was supposed to be a step on the way back to the top not an end destination.

For me if we finish outside the CL spots again thats a complete and utter failure and keeping him on would be outright self sabotage. Yet I have no expectation that finishing 5th or 6th or possibly even lower would be enough for the Kroenkes to take action.

Hope sure but it’s grounded on the quality and profile of the squad for me. The large majority of the starting XI are either very young or just hitting their peak. In theory, the only way is up.

There was some optimism when Emery got us 5th and signed Pepe and co too so you never know how it will actually pan out, but as things stand I think it’s looking good.

I read you Goon and under your view I cant imagine a scenario where Arteta is going to be at fault. What do we need? To invest 500M Eur more and have Messi and zero injuries during the whole season? Then and only then Arteta would be responsible for the failure

Wenger was past it, we needed to move on. Clearly the mistake was hiring Pep's ipad holder instead of a top tier manager like Allegri.

8th, 8th, 5th. Where is the progress? We finished 5th with Emery too

If you are going to refer to the young age of the squad well Wenger's squads were young too and that never was a excuse to fail on the bare minimum (CL spot)
