Three months, eh. Fuck that. The Brazil setup protesteth too much about whether they fielded Jesus injured.
As far as signings, I like Mudryk off the top, but anyone else see it as a concern he prefers the left? Bringing him in would mean Martinelli, Smith Rowe and Mudryk all competing for that left side on paper. Some are dubious about Smith Rowe, but that's last season's top scorer and an elite talent comparable to our other options.
This looms as the big shot for Nketiah. If he can't prosper now, we should figure out how to shift him, but we have to back him for a run of matches.
This is my take:
In January:
- Try to sign a first XI midfielder (Partey is an injury prone alleged rapist who's played amazingly—losing him to injury's worse than Jesus)
* Cheaper option Danilo, upscale option Thuram
- Give Eddie till United in January to click into gear (could be up to 6 appearances)
* Recall Balogun if Nketiah is failing
- Sign Mudryk if Arteta can figure out how to get the best of Mudryk, Martinelli and Smith Rowe (among others)
In summer:
- Move on the lesser of Balogun and Nketiah
- Sign a first XI striker (no way Jesus does his thing all season in both PL and CL)
At least we seem already to have been working on the January objectives.
