More that I think it's possible.

Last summer we ended up getting Sterling on loan. If we sell Trossard then signing 3 new attacking players seems like a pretty tall order given our recent track record. If we're facing a headcount issue late in the window, I don't think Arteta deciding to give a player he's already invested a lot in another chance is all that unlikely, particularly if he has a good finish to the season.

Could also just be that Vieira was just getting back to health as doing a lot of sub appearances in January. He’s only really kicked on last 3-4 weeks. So maybe Arteta decided not to mess with his recovery process.
But if Vieira was as good as Saka or Martinelli, he would’ve been forced to recover in London.

I know we're all excited by how Nwaneri broke through, but there is no way Max Dowman will be ready for any significant minutes next season.

He's fucking 15, slender, and barely breaking into Arsenal U21 and England U17. He has played less than half the England youth games that Nwaneri has played, and hasn't played any England U19.

I'd even offer a bet that Vieira plays more significant minutes (PL games aside from last 5 of the season, FA Cup, and CL games that matter) than Dowman next year.

I can't see Vieira getting any minutes for Arsenal next year as I don't think he'll be here. If Arteta wanted him he wouldn't have been fucked off on loan in the same summer we sold ESR and didn't bring in a replacement for either.

MistaT this makes sense. Dowman is a kid. Even in our absolutely shocking squad state he chose to go back home in January. If he knew he was ready, he would’ve leapt at the opportunity.

I don't think 2 players per position is enough anymore given the increase in CL and International games. I think you need an extra player across each area of the pitch just to give you enough cover.
