Not an error Clarence, the journalist breaking the story is simply a little ambiguous. He says there's an agreement between the clubs (which indicates not a clause, for that you don't need an agreement) but then says the clause is worth 40m.

Maybe Porto wanted to let him leave and were a little accommodating towards us and the players. Find it also interesting it doesn't say 35m + 5m but says 40m of which 5m are dependent on "sporting objectives"; phrasing makes it sound like the last 5m are definitely going to be sent their way.

I do think though we needed a Vieira though not Vitinha.

Not another technically sound player like Odegaard who passes it around but gets negligible end product.

Yeah they definitely rate Vitinha higher. Vitinha is their Saka, Vieira is their ESR in terms of importance.

BUT if because of this we don't sign Tielemans or someone similar, then this would be another demonstration of stupidity.

Vitinha was playing in the PL last season and impressed nobody, not sure what all the hype is about.

I suspect he is our version of what we thought Buendia could have been, or even another AA type in that he is more a final 3rd player and will play as part of the attack either in a 433 (as WF or CMA)/4231 (as CAM or SS)/3421 (as part of twin #10s behind the CF as seen with Nkunku or Werner).

Watching more of this guy play - I love it. He's so natural on the ball, makes great snap-decisions in the final third, positions himself very well (in the attacking sense) and has the ability to make space anywhere with his close control. Where he really shines, though, is in the way he strikes the ball. So smooth and clean. His goals remind of Pires, both in their variety and the way he just pops up in the right place.

Really like the look of him in comps too. Can't wait to watch him play for us a bit and see how he fits in.

The club has gotten a bit of criticism for the transfer window so far, but Nketiah and Vieira seem like good business to me, and more importantly it's in the attacking end for once. I know Eddie was already at the club but they must have shown him that they were ready to give him a proper chance, otherwise he wouldn't have extended. It wasn't an easy job to keep him when he held all the cards and I really think we would have regretted seeing the back of him.

Give us a striker and a leftback too and we're good to go for next season.
