Would be amazing if both MU & LFC were put on the market.

Looking forward it may suggest that we would likely have a very limited opportunity to both regain top4 and to be able to challenge for the EPL title, but that is based on the assumption any new owners have their heads screwed on and are willing to invest appropriately for them to do so.

That said I'd hope that KSE would recognise the opportunity we have this season, and would also be prepared to invest in the 'now' with regards to the opportunity to win the title this season.

Fuck. The only reason United are in their current position is because of how horribly run they are. They're a money making machine to the extent that even mediocre management will get them places as long as the owners aren't draining them of cash.

Could go either way. They could end up with another Todd who wants to throw money at anything that moves or an Arab state with a long strategic vision. Hopefully, it's the former but wouldn't be surprised if another Arab state gets in on the act.

Yup. 4 times the amount. Their ruler is/was the head of state for the whole Emirates and valued them out when they were building the Burj. They ended up struggling to finish it cuz of delays and which resulted in the costs increasing greatly. It was meant to be called Burj Dubai but was named after the Abu Dhabi ruler after he financed the remainder of the project and paid of Dubai's debt for the building.

ICD are the Dubai Sovereign wealth fund. They are still quite a bit behind Abu Dhabi's. Abu Dhabi's is valued at 50% more than PIF, the Newcastle owners.

That said if it is a SWF buying United then they'd definitely have a lot more money than the City owners personal wealth and will only be behind Newcastle. Hope none of this goes through.

They're not though. Their owner is the from Abu Dhabi, he'd the brother of the ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Thanks BW and jones, learned something today. I'm in UAE now and having visited both cities you will never guess AD is richer than Dubai.

Yeah that's his brother but he himself is the prime minister of Dubai I thought? Not that familiar with the internals of Emirati families tbf

Dubai doesn't have a Prime Minister jones, although the ruler of Dubai is also the Prime Minister of UAE. The City owner is the Deputy Prime Minister if the UAE. He is married to the daughter of the ruler of Dubai though, so yeah.

Clrnc, don't you remember during the financial crisis when Dubai was on the verge of financial ruin, big brother Abu Dhabi stepped in with a 10Bn dollar bailout before they defaulted on an Islamic bond. Was also an opportunity for them to remind Dubai to rein in their ungodly culture. Abu Dhabi is where the real wealth lies.
