On PEP’s 6 forward’s - he can rotate his 6 forwards and maintain a high standard. We have to play the same 3 guys every week because we don’t have alternatives. Maybe we can get 4th this summer. Nelson and Nketiah would get nowhere near his squad.
On Americans vs Arab states. Arab states operate with no balance sheet. They do not want a super league. They want to dominate the status quo by spending unlimited funds. How can anyone look the dominance and new levels created by City and not see how much they’ve distorted this league? We are setting records and nobody feels confident that we have a chance of winning the league. And, Jones, you cannot compare someone who spends a billion pounds to the millionaires of the 90s. It’s a different quantum. And all those English, French, Italian millionaires/billionaires, quickly expired. Saudi and UAE are limitless.
American owners and the super league? I would rather American owners. In the short run, they are businesspeople, so they operate profitably. In the long run, they won’t get their super league. It requires negotiating so many domestic and continental legal and cultural hurdles that it won’t happen. All that will happen is they can use the threat to extract more value from Uefa, but anyone who believes a breakaway super league is happening, is extremely hopeful.
