I mean this was always where Newcastle are going the added factor is a season where some of the more established teams have dropped so there is a gap there right now.
It reminds me of LCFC's season, with half of the big6 in turmoil of one sort or another (MU, LFC & CFC), and another playing poorly but getting points atm, meaning there are gaps and potential opportunities to be taken. One of the big6 is doing the business as expected (MC), and two interlopers (AFC & NUFC), punching above their squad quality looking to take advantage of the carnage seen elsewhere.
NUFC are currently 4th but have played more games than both CFC and MU who could both make it a 4 way fight for 3rd & 4th (which would be great). As such they are having a season much like we did last season, and it will be interesting to see what they do in Jan. I suspect the WC may have the least impact on NUFC in terms of their players, and they will look to strengthen in Jan particularly if they are still in top4 battle by Jan. I do not think they'd make the same mistake we did and I think their biggest question will be can they avoid an injury crisis as LCFC did when they won the title, and claim top4.
That said I'm not sure NUFC getting top4 this season woud be good for us in terms of potential expenditure in the market.
