It's best if you just accept that your Arsenal-supporting bias made you hopeful of something that objectively was very unlikely to happen given the actual depth and quality of our squad.
This is like people being upset by Wenger's inability to get this team to play well:
Supposedly that was a team full of world-beaters who were just being held back by a manager who'd lost it.
To be clear, Arteta's brand of football is not a good match for this team. The Spanish version of Emery, ironically, would be. Even someone like Gustavo Quinteros would do wonders here, I bet. But we were never going to have the upper hand in the race for 4th this season. Let's have some perspective now that it's all done.
