West Ham Utd v Arsenal - Sun May 1 - 16:30 London Stadium

Didn't see a match thread so opening one.

Potentially season defining match (as all that are left).

We play 4 non-Tottenham teams + Tottenham. If we get 4 wins in those we can afford to draw and possibly even lose at Totts while keeping 4th place.

This scenario continues to feel unlikely to me. I believe 4th is theirs to lose and we'd do extremely well to nail it.

Last time we played at West Ham we came back from 3-0 down to earn a draw.

In our favour this time, they just lost a Europa League semi-final against Jones' boys, and they play the 2nd leg on Thursday. Hopefully this finds them distracted and with the need to rotate some players.

Let's go.

Have to win today. Newcastle away might be trickier (their last home game of the season?), whereas West Ham will hopefully rest players again today.

Expecting a Ode masterclass today. Last one was v Leicester at home.

The one in this same fixture was probably top 5 Arsenal individual displays I’ve ever seen. Unreal. Hopefully this ground is a lucky charm for him.

Probably gonna miss most of this due to family commitments. Might be able to sneak away to a bar with a screen if I'm lucky. Really want to see it, massive game. Win this and it all comes down to the Derby. Don't care how we play, just get the 3 points.

I have fallen into the trap after the last few games and am feeling oddly confident we will win this 2-0 with White to get his first goal(?) for the club.

Of course this probably really means we will be completely abject and lose 1-0 after letting in a poor goal in the first half and struggling for the rest of the match to score.

Its hard to know what to expect from WHU, will they play a team of back ups? Probably but if they do will those back ups be killing themselves trying to earn a place in the Euro team?

West Ham weren't too great but they ran their hearts out last Thursday, also lost the home leg of their season defining tie. Must win match under the circumstances

Much like the Chelsea match logic for me. It feels like the circumstances should mean that we win this and it not necessarily be too much trouble given the context but just as with Chelsea even though we were low you could see us somehow getting a result as that's what we do. Could we struggle to win and drop points here knowing how we've been? absolutely.

We need to win this match as they will be without any actual CB I think and the league has slipped in their focus given what's happened.

Leaves me wondering if they’ll just focus on counter attacking as a result. We should take care of business today and like what I’m hearing from Arteta. Would like a much better performance from both our CBs than of late.

😆 I didn't mean the days but the month itself. Life's getting more hectic every year and it feels like the month started like last week.

I remember in the late 90s/early 00s when it was in December, was really easy to get used to it as a kid as it was just until 4pm or so. Cuts both ways though, I was in St. Petersburg couple years back and sundown didn't arrive until around 11pm and the sun was back up like 90 minutes later.

Was fasting here too. You've got Eid tomorrow though right? It's tomorrow for me, though technically it's Eid now (since it starts on the eve night).
Unless you have Eid on Tuesday.

Early 2000s in London, by the time you finish school it was already time. By 2015 we were talking about 2:30am until 10pm. But yeah, 12:30am until 11pm is nuts.
