We had a centreforward of highest quality that was almost starved to death though. The problem wasn't movement and positioning, it was that we never worked the ball forward quickly enough.
I have no idea if there's a statistic for this, but gut feeling says that we're the worst team, or at least one of the very worst, in Premier League at attacking transitions. Virtually all of our good passing is just a bunch of pointless possession in defence. Our attacks are slow and uninventive along the flanks, and if Ødegaard gets the ball centrally it's always against a collected defence. Look at Southampton, we gave them the opportunity to defend themselves. There's very little chance of pulling opponents apart when you play that way, no room to split them open. They can track runs and minimalise angles.
That's also why we convert so few chances I reckon. Most of the shots we take aren't dangerous enough. Southampton directed us to shoot from a good distance most of the time and we were happy to oblige. There were one or two excellent saves from Forster but most of our attempts just made him look good because the angle was bad or the shot came from outside the box. They were the kind that any keeper would be expected to save.
