no, he's a bit of a punchline/spoofer on twitter from what I've seen

its at the point where the fiorentina execs are publicly trying to shove him and his agent out the door, so something might actually happen here

Or kinda like the way you start to swoon over the opposition for no reason, first over Mason Greenfraud now Virgin van dickhead. Really weird comparison especially since they play at opposite ends of the pitch

Terrible comparison. Van Dijk is three centimetres taller.

I agree with Quincy's take, anyway. A striker who can appear to be in an imperfect position to score, and then impose himself on the defence at the same time as moving faster, and finish emphatically, and do all of the above often ... gotta say at the fee and wages we're being asked I'd be stoked to see him in our colours. It's a lot but it's sounding like value for money.

Really hope we get him. Would level-up our attack. I'm sure Saka and Martinelli would enjoy playing off him.

people that say he doesn't get involved enough in build up - I don't really mind if that's the case. he looks like the kind of striker that is poised and clinical when chances arrive, whether he's heavily involved in the game, or on the fringes of the game

He'd make a big impact to our current lineup just being a presence off the ball and dragging centre halves around.

Thing is we were struggling to create more than 1 or two chances a match before we changed to a more involved false number 9 style forward with Lacazette.

I don't know enough about Vlahovic aside from the videos I've seen but if people are saying that it doesn't matter if he gets involved in buildup or not then I hope we can keep attacking in a similar way to how we have in December and creating more than we did for Auba because that was horrendous to watch.

Based on our player material we shouldn't need the striker do be the deep-lying type. The players behind him is three out of ESR, Øde, Saka, Martinelli and Pepe. It's an excellent group of options both quality-wise and in how different they are and if they can't create for the striker it's not a player problem.

That's true. A good manager would get it to work. Arteta just doesn't seem to be able to do that and luckily found a way to get us scoring and that needed that deep lying forward linking up play and releasing the ball quickly to feed others.

Going back to a striker that relies more in being provided for rather than doing the dirty job that Laca does might see us go back to that shitty style we'd been playing for too long unless Arteta can get it to work.

fair points willie. if we end up coughing up all that money for him and end up playing rubbish because the striker isn't dropping into the hole enough, it's the result of shoddy coaching

Fully agree. If Arteta can't get our system to work without a Laca style player then he shouldn't be buying anyone other than an upgraded version of Laca.
