The thing is, only three of their players have COVID...that's no different to what we contended with against Norwich, is it not? If their request is upheld, it's really a joke as they definitely have enough players to make a squad for this match.

This sounds like complete houseboat to me, they've not even said they don't have enough players, they're requesting it to be 'prudent'. Someone pointed out they've played 30 different players in the League Cup this season plus 8 other senior players who were left out altogether. So apparently 25 players are unavailable.

Somehow I get the feeling they'll find the players for their League 1 FA Cup game. I've also seen a theory that they're doing this to push back potential PL games being rearranged for the one free slot in Jan while Salah and Mane are away.

I still smell something dodgy but with their training ground being closed - probably for 48 hours - I can't see it going ahead.

As of now there's still only 3 confirmed cases among their players.

Apparently they want it postponed because of their covid cases on top of their injury/AFCON absentees. Absolutely should be forced to play their reserves in that case, who gives a fuck whether they closed down their training ground or not

Yeah, have to agree. AFCON is irrelevant as we have more players away and we've known it was gonna happen this month. One of my friends also pointed out that Pool played Villa when Villa had a horrendous COVID outbreak and had to field exclusively u-23/u-18 players.

First leg is at Anfield next week. We will definitely play a weaker side than we would have tomorrow due to NLD.

Second leg at Emirates on 20/1. Not sure that is fair, away second leg you have more time of away goal (if it goes extra time).

What happens to our game v Burnley on 22?

On 23rd it’s Chelsea Spurs and Palace at home so not sure they can have 3 London clubs play at home same period.

Hopefully get pushed back to the 24th or our second leg v Liverpool moves forward to the 19th.
