We have been brilliant but at only 1-0 vs them my bowels will get floppier as the game goes on.

Or 2-1 to be fair, City missed that free header which was a good chance. We have run the match though.

What a half, great team performance.. City cant handle Saka/Martinelli. Odegaard has been everywhere... Partey has been great, mentioned it before but like him in the more withdrawn role, sets the tempo well and finds good angles, hopefully makes it easier to upgrade on Xhaka.

City are most likely going to score 2nd half so need to keep up this level for the rest of the game

Super stuff. That first half felt a bit like a milestone. Really good tactically and in execution.

Saka and Martienlli are both such a threat, Partey hand Tomi have been superb too. Everyone else has been good, no one is shying away from the challenge.

Going to be a tough second half, chances are we will be camped in a little deeper as energy levels drop as it goes on. Need to make sure we keep the counter attacking threat.

May be exaggerated owing to the mood of the day and present moment, but I think this is the first time we have played without any fear of conceding since Wenger left - 3 and a half seasons, just that we have done that with more application than Wenger managed from his teams in his last few years. Immense half.

Martinelli looking top drawer today. I like the fact that he can be so direct; at times we've overengineered things but when he's on the ball, he often goes straight for goal and we need that alternative outlet.

Gabriel was brilliant too. They broke into our box a few times early on and he cleaned it up. If he hadn't this would be a very different game.

Barring one or two moments in transition, and literally no more than that, and a couple of good deliveries from set-pieces, City have been completely nullified. Whilst we have had them scrambling 5 or 6 times. A superb goal from Saka after a flowing move, Martinelli and Saka tormenting them every chance they get, with 2 near misses from superb Martinelli efforts, and lots of crosses and dangerous positions. Ødegaard should have had a penalty too for a foul by Ederson.

We've pressed them really well, Ederson has given the ball away 3 or 4 times already. There was a spell where we had 70% of the ball over 5 minutes.

It's been a really good performance. We've played them at their own game and outplayed them. Though a long way to go.

Could have been 2-0 easily. We were the better team and really dominating proceedings. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say this is the best performance under Arteta so far for 45mins considering the opponent and their form.

Also, this more restrained and withdrawn role for Partey works a treat. There is a great balance. Him facing play with Xhaka ahead of the ball is better that the opposite.

They were using all sorts of weird angles that made it seem too tough to call. BT Sport showed one and it's clear within 2 seconds.

We'll see now what Pep does to change things, a lot of quality on that City bench. We need to react to their changes too and Arteta/Stuivenberg can't leave tired players on too long.

Our pressing is what is, but we have been so impressive on the ball.

I can't believe VAR didn't give the penalty. It was obvious to me Ederson went through Ødegaard and didn't get the ball in real time. But BT have just shown the replay at half-time, and it it as clear as can be. Disgraceful. What's the point of VAR if they can't overturn obvious errors like that?
