By the time it went to the 7th or 8th kicker I was watching and hoping this happened. The way he was death staring at everyone lol.

Best of all was when he tried to mind game Van Dijk by leaving one whole side empty and van Dijk called his bluff and smashed it down hus throat. 😆

Because Kepa is usually pretty good at saving pens and Mendy isn't. Just backfired horribly this time, doubly so because Mendy had a great game before.

I don't think it's that controversial subbing a keeper who's supposedly better at pens. It's no different to subbing on a strong penalty taker, if anything it has a bigger impact potentially.

Works well in theory but not in reality as we saw in the Euro 2020/1 final.

(Looking at Rashford for example),

The argument is that you shouldn’t take off a player who is used to the game and is already ‘warm’.

In general I think subbing in a GK who is that much better on pens is a good idea, but apparently Kepa has played every match up until the final where he was benched and then was subbed on again for the pens? Basically Tuchel saying he didn't trust him to play the final then putting him on. Not the best of circumstances I'd imagine.

Also, it's a kind of play that, no matter if it's the right choice or not, you will be ridiculed with an end result as spectacular as what happened.
