Has Martinelli arrived for the campaign? Can Saka get back on the saddle tonight? A win will dispel quite a bit of the acrid and horrid aftertaste of Thursday clanger. Smaller pitch, a good moment to reintroduce Tierney.

Toffees haven't won for 8 games, but I'm reminded they have defeated us in the last two encounters. Arsenal haven't scored in 4 out of 7 away games. For us to find out if that dial is indeed shifting, however slowly.

I'm torn for this one. On one had I think we need to give Odegaard games to keep developing, on the other hand I'd love to see this line-up:

We need to start rotating now anyway, xmas period will be full of games. Odegaard, Tavares, etc should get plenty of games. I'd be tempted to throw AMN in too with that in mind.

Can imagine this, but with Lacazette (and all the problems and influences from that).

There's no particularly proven way to organise the forwards based on form, fitness, understanding or even game time to date. Despite the urgency of getting a win, this is as good a match as any to try something new, so I'd drop Auba—it'll force a different approach and give him a circuit-breaker.

I think Smith Rowe was downright awful against United, he looked really leggy. I reckon he should be on the bench today.

No Smith-Rowe or Maitland-Niles, Auba on the bench, Laca and Xhaka from start. Not sure how many of those decisions are choices and how many of them are being forced by injuries, but they aren't great on paper. We should comfortably beat Everton either way, mind.

To be honest I don't mind Xhaka instead of Lokonga. If AMN isn't injured it's a bad decision though. Equally, I don't mind Laca instead of Auba. ESR surely must be injured to not be on the bench.

These late kickoffs are certainly handy time difference wise while working from home (it's 9am here) but two games in a row I have to leave at half time and watch the 2nd half later. The other day I had to go out for an appointment and today I have a bloody meeting at 10.
