We have seen enough of him struggling with high press in matches like this. He would have made little difference.

I'd maybe be inclined to take a bit of a risk and take Lonkonga off for Pepe. Midfield just can't string any passes together so could maybe do with Odegaard dropping back a bit.

that was rough. Need to be more focused.

I like that we're taking risks with the quick passing among multiple opponents but we push it too far.

Their left winger frying Tomi alive and we're shaky defensively but at the same time we've been doing some great key interceptions.

When the wind was blowing our direction I felt they could just kick from the halfway line straight into goal without effort, it was that strong.

games like this are more of a barometer on where we're headed than NLDs, where appetite and energy usually aren't an issue, especially at home. also shows up the need for a quality experienced centre midfielder to pair with partey.

So the problem is by now we should have a game plan for a team like Brighton, I mean we look unprepared and are lacking in sharpness and strength out there, and that is inexcusable. Brighton is not exactly an unknown quantity. We know what they are about, and what they will try to do. Yet we come into the first half and play like this. We’ve been so so lucky.

We should be looking more like we were in the last 5 minutes rather than what we showed in the first 40.

Agreed. Potter demonstrating the importance of competent management. We've seen this happen way too often under Arteta. Our opposition always look like they have an extra man. Really, really poor.

And don’t bother with the long passes. Keep the ball. We can beat Brighton’s press. We have to do that first. Keep the ball. No rush. Play at our tempo, not theirs. There’s no “sempe” player to calm things down. Lokonga isn’t ready for this level of football.
