I don't see how that can be considered onside either, shame that the final is decided in such a way. Although it's only the Nations League Spain have a young squad with several players who haven't won much yet.

He's either terrific or shit, no in between. Played immaculately all season then dropped a couple of clangers in recent weeks. Considering he's a year younger and 20m cheaper than White I don't think we're in any position to say we dodged a bullet with him, he'll be fine for Bayern and France in the future.

I was always surprised to see the wishlist full of Upemecano requests. He's a big talent, huge physical potential and a massive character on the pitch - as brave as a bull. But every single time I watched him for Leipzig - and that is dozens of times - he made at least one big mistake. Often a mistake that cost his team a goal.

Exactly what he did for the Spain goal last night he would do all the time - body angle all wrong when approaching an attacker, too aggressive considering the danger if beaten as last man, and giving up a chance, usually a very good one, as a result.

He was incredible in a particular game in the CL I watched him in, both defensively and on the ball. That performance alone would make me open to 'gambling' on him. I was surprised by just how different he looked in the games I've watched since, but I guess that's to be expected of a 22yr old.

If he could cut out the calamitous moments he could become a superstar CB, and I'd certainly take that risk if we didn't have three big talents of our own. He's not a very "natural" defender (I hate the phrase, but it is apt here to get my point across) though. He doesn't sense danger very well and takes unreasonable risks too often.

If I were hazarding a guess, I reckon he will always be prone to rash moments, even when he's reached his peak. But will still be some player. I just think folks here would be very surprised if they watched him week in, week out for a while. He consistently makes the most head scratching of decisions and errors.

His partner at Leipzig, Konate, is perhaps the bigger talent. Better in the air and less error-prone. Given his long injury last season, remains to be seen whether that was a one-off or if he is truly injury-prone.

Yeah. This rule needs to go. Lesson learned for defenders is don't bother touching the ball. Thought they abolished this absurd crap after Man City vs Villa last year.

The rule isn’t the problem, it’s the nonsensical implementation of it. The rules can’t legislate for every specific scenario, there’s way too many variables in football. At some point you need to apply common sense and follow a principles based approach. They clearly have that leeway too as they showed after the City game last time, but they’ll hide behind the laws of the game when people find their brain dead interpretation unpalatable.

Mavropanos just made one of the dumbest tackles I've ever seen. It probably cost Greece the game. Alexander Isak was chasing a ball that was going out of play for a Greek goalkick and Mavropanos just came flying off the ground with a sliding tackle to bring him down and cause a penalty. Bloke wasn't even close to touching the ball. Absolutely brainless. I can't believe he stayed on. The Greek commentators were yelling at him so loudly that you could hear it on the Swedish broadcast. Greece have been outplaying Sweden all game and then he does THAT.
