You're oversimplifying the point. There are no top strikers around who are just goalscorers and nothing else, nobody plays with a Mario Gomez or Alan Shearer any longer every centre forward at the level has good technical or at least link up ability these days. Klopp and Guardiola not playing with an out and out striker adds nothing to the point, there are loads of other examples like Lewandowski who's world class on the ball but doesn't drop as deep because the guys behind him handle build up, same with Mbappe, Haaland etc
There are however levels between having a striker like Lukaku who's shit on the ball but strong as an ox and able to function well in a two man striker partnership bringing runners into play and someone like Benzema who's basically a playmaker up front. All I'm saying is that we seem to do far better with a CF who's mostly dropping deep because we're not comfortable enough using just the line behind the striker to create, ie we'd be more comfortable with someone like Osimhen than Vlahovic even if the latter's not a pure poacher either.
