naz I think it was a tactical masterpiece.
Pretty much all of Arteta's subs were. His game management yesterday was 10/10. Especially the timing. Bringing Martinelli on to inject some pace and directness into our attack when we were struggling to get a foothold. The response to counter Guardiola bringing on Doku to try and run at Zinny. Almost immediately afterwards Arteta brought on Tomi to lock that shit down. Dude ended up switching to the other wing to try and find some success but by then Partey and the other subs helped us get more of a control of the game.
Like it's been mentioned before all 4 subs combined for our goal and following that it was great use of Controllball™️ where we passed it around well at the back then fed it to Raya who kept hitting great accurate balls into Havertz. We ended up recycling the ball and repeating that sequence for a good 4 or 5 minutes until we were about halfway through injury time.
It was a scrappy win, with a little fluidity lacking in attack but defensively we were rock solid without putting ourselves under siege and simultaneously conceding all of the possession and territory. A draw probably would have been a fair result in the end but the boys grinded the win out in a manner in which it almost felt kind of easy in the end.
