I've been feeling more emotionally invested in this group of players than in years. Almost feels like Xhaka's contract was extended just to remind us what a dickhead looks like (how did he manage to get himself booked yesterday?).
It's certainly easier to forgive mistakes when we've been getting buried against this backdrop of youth and development.
I guess some of our starlets will eventually become unsettled or demanding, but there seems to be a lot of joy among the lads coming through together, Smith Rowe, Saka and Martinelli.
